FANUC R-50iA Compact DC Controller at IMTS

FANUC's new controller puts CRX cobot control on an autonomous mobile robot, with Python, Ethernet and vision features.

CHICAGO. The FANUC R-50iA Compact DC Controller makes its public debut at IMTS 2026. The show opens September 14 at McCormick Place.[1]

FANUC made the new model for CRX collaborative robot arms mounted on autonomous mobile robots.[1]

That pairing turns a mobile base and robot arm into one moving work system.[1]

FANUC is showing it across assembly, machine tending, part transport, inspection and washing.[1] The company has not published the controller's price, dimensions, mass or shipping date.[1]

What the Compact DC model changes

FANUC already sells R-50iA Mate, A and B cabinets for fixed robot installations.[2]

The Compact DC variant addresses a different constraint. It puts the controller on a mobile robot, where integrators must resolve cabinet space and power architecture.[1]

The release does not list the controller's input voltage, dimensions or mass.[1] It also gives no compatibility list for mobile robot bases.[1]

Those omissions leave integrators without enough public detail to compare the package with a separate controller plus hardware that converts the base's power.[1]

Python runs on the controller

The R-50iA platform can execute Python programs directly without sending every Python task to a separate PC.[3]

FANUC provides libraries that expose robot input and output signals and register values.[3] Direct robot motion from Python requires its optional Remote Motion Interface.[3]

FANUC also names Ethernet connectivity and vision capabilities for the Compact DC model.[1]

Its IMTS release says the connected demo covers inspection and part transport. It does not report cycle times, navigation results or completed task rates.[1]

IMTS runs through September 19.[4] At the show, FANUC has built the controller into a mobile CRX application.[1]
