XPENG IRON Humanoid Robot Production Line Opens

XPENG IRON humanoid robot production line is operating in Guangzhou, but XPENG has not disclosed capacity, yield, cycle time or unit cost.

XPENG's IRON humanoid robot production line is operating in Guangzhou, China. The company says the first completed IRON walked off the line autonomously on 8 September 2026. That takes IRON beyond hand-built prototypes, but it does not prove volume output. XPENG has not reported capacity, cycle time, yield or unit cost.[1]

The company says automated systems handle more than 80% of the line's core processes. It adapted manufacturing methods from its electric vehicle business for the robot facility.[1]

Is the XPENG IRON production line mass production?

No. XPENG has shown that the line can assemble a complete robot. It has not disclosed the automated processes, rated capacity, cycle time, yield, unit cost or total output. One finished IRON does not show that the factory can sustain volume.[1]

XPENG says it brought manufacturing methods and quality systems from its electric vehicle business into the robot facility. The company has not identified the operations its automated systems handle or released data that would let outsiders assess the line.[1]

Our explainer on humanoid robots in warehouses makes the same distinction for deployments. A working unit matters, but sustained output and task results matter more.

"XPENG will continue to explore faster production rhythms and greater scale in robot manufacturing."

XPENG chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said this when the line opened.[1]

What are the XPENG IRON robot specifications?

XPENG lists 76 degrees of freedom across IRON's body, including 21 in each hand. It says three in-house Turing AI chips provide up to 2,250 TOPS and run the company's Physical AI model on the robot.[1]

These are manufacturer specifications. XPENG says IRON can perform complex tasks without a remote operator, but its release includes no independent task benchmark, extended test or comparison.[1]

When will XPENG mass-produce and deliver IRON?

XPENG plans to begin volume manufacturing by the end of 2026. It intends to place early units in its own stores and campuses before a market launch and deliveries in China and overseas in 2027. Those dates are targets. The company has not announced a customer price or delivery volume.[1]

XPENG's stores and campuses would give the company controlled sites for initial use. A separate CJ Logistics humanoid robot case shows why the assigned task and reported results matter as much as a robot's presence on site.

The 2027 delivery plan will remain a target until customers receive robots. XPENG now has an assembly line, but its commercial scale is unknown.
